Spotlight on…April

6S3A9729AprilHi April, let’s start with work; How long have you been with the company? How did you get started?

I will be with the Company 15 Years on 19 June this year. I have worked in Financial  Services from I was 16 years old – I got made redundant from 3 National Companies in succession, having worked for the first two for 10 years each and the 3rd one for just over a year. I secured a job at an Independent Financial Advisers office, who shall remain unnamed and absolutely hated it. One of the job agencies that I had registered with called me one day to tell me about a job in Aiken Kennedy Financial Planning and I jumped at the chance of an interview …. and the rest is history as they say.

When you were a child, what job did you want to do?

An air hostess

Work in silence or with music, background chatter and noise?

As I worked in a Direct Sales environment for 20 years I was used to constant noise – it doesn’t bother me working with noise and chatter in the background or in silence. I would love some very low music in the background.

Great! What’s your drink of choice while you’re working?

Tea and lots of water.

And when you’re not working?

When having a meal a nice glass of Rioja or when socialising I like a Jamesons and Pepsi (affectionately known as a JAP) 

Nice. Name the best place you’ve ever visited.

My best place is Corfu – I love the laid back way of life (only for holidays though it would drive me bonkers living like that all the time!)

And how about the place that’s currently top of your ‘to visit’ list?

Borneo – to see Orangutans

If you have the choice between staying in and going out, which do you normally choose and what do you normally do?

Like both – depends on mood and energy level (if you’d have asked me that 15-20 years ago I would definitely have said going out!) I love spending time with and socialising with my family.

Do you prepare well in advance or are you a ‘last minute’ person?

At work I would say well in advance but at home my husband would probably say ‘last minute’

Do you ‘do’ Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn? Are they useful?

Yes – like how it is so easy to stay in contact with people you may not see for a while.

Physical book or e-book?

Unfortunately I don’t really have much time other than on holidays to read a book.

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being ‘not at all’, how clued up on technology do you feel you are?

Probably 5 (half way!) – think I am actually better that that… but… I have a 16 year old daughter and lots of nieces and nephews who beg to differ!

And finally, if you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

I think – the invisible woman – that could prove really interesting!
