We are very pleased to announce that our director, Roger Kennedy, has recently been awarded Chartered status. This is a prestigious qualification and very well deserved. The title is regarded as the pinnacle of the profession and is a sign of real commitment, following many years of hard work and intensive studying.
As someone who cares deeply about the way AKFP and the profession are perceived, qualifying as a Chartered Financial Planner was always a natural aspiration for Roger. Criteria include holding the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, being a member of the Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII) and having at least 5 years’ industry experience. Those who qualify join an elite group of professionals at the forefront of their profession. It also signifies a wealth of specialised knowledge and experience gained through studying for the CII professional level qualifications.
But that’s not all!  We have just received confirmation that AKFP, as a firm, has also been successful in obtaining corporate Chartered status so it’s congratulations all round! As a Chartered body for over a century, the CII grants Chartered titles to individuals and organisations, who met the very stringent requirements and agree to uphold the standards expected of Chartered status.
The concept of Chartered professionalism dates back many centuries to the years following the Norman invasion in 1066 and denotes a certain standing in many different professions, from accountants to civil engineers, as well as, of course, insurance brokers, insurers, insurance practitioners and financial planners. In today’s competitive marketplace, Chartered status is more significant than ever in terms of representing the highest standards of learning and ethical behaviour.
Behind the whole concept is the desire to help the industry improve the standards of knowledge, behaviour and levels of professionalism. This is achieved by creating a framework to encourage and support firms as they strive to raise standards of capability and ethical practice. A corporate Chartered title is therefore a commitment to an overall standard of excellence and professionalism, the provision of competent and knowledgeable advice and service of the highest quality.
You will soon start to see the Chartered logo on all our literature – a real stamp of approval!
