AKFP have once again been helping the Young Enterprise group at Friends School and we were delighted to see this year’s group repeat the success of 2015 and feature amongst the winners at the Young Enterprise Northern Ireland awards!
Held at The Titanic Building in Belfast on 6th April 2016, this year’s company won the Innovation Award, whilst Rebecca McNeill, who took on the marketing
role for the team, won the Entrepreneur of the Future award.
This year’s group of entrepreneurs from the school in Lisburn established a company called Generation, making and marketing an activity book for children and their families called ‘My Family and I’. The activity book aims to get children learning about their heritage ‘from finding out their grandparent’s childhood dinners to the countries their parent has travelled to’, encouraging ‘family time’, whilst enabling extra curricular learning.
AKFP Group Director, Roger Kennedy, has once again been mentoring the group, joining Generation for board and strategy meetings and lending his experience to help keep their project on the right track.
The team attended local craft and trade fairs, as well as making their product available for purchase online.
Their hard work paid off during the awards ceremony in April and everyone at AKFP would like to extend their congratulations to the team collectively and to Rebecca for her individual award. In a happy coincidence and as part of our continued support for Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, AKFP actually sponsored the award which the judges deemed Rebecca worthy of!
Well done again to the whole team – another great year of Young Enterprise fuelled by hard work, enthusiasm and great ideas.
