As proud supporters of Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, we recently took part in their Explore Enterprise program which encourages entrepreneurial spirit amongst high school age children.
The program is designed to encourage school children in Northern Ireland to think creatively about producing a product or service and then provides them with the enterprise education to help them market, distribute and sell their product.
We were invited to Friends School Lisburn to take part in a business workshop, assisting students with idea generation, distribution strategies, marketing plans and brand design. Roger gave a presentation on what it means to him to be a business owner and talked openly about why he decided to start his own business, the challenges he has faced and what he finds rewarding. He hopes that he has passed on some of his wisdom to the students!
We were impressed by the ideas that the students produced with which included solar powered mobile phone cases, gaming apps, and board games that encourage hand/eye coordination and colour recognition in pre school children.
In Northern Ireland, entrepreneurial spirit is growing rapidly, and we couldn’t be more pleased to see the success stories that this country is producing! We are encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by the students of Friends School and we know that there are some bright, young business stars of the future in that classroom!
